ABB Partners with Shaker Consultancy Group for the sixth year in a row Through Shaker Academy to Shape the Future of Technology and Industry

As part of its vision to invest in the next generation and empower young minds

ABB Egypt, a leader in technology and energy solutions, has formed a strategic partnership with Shaker Consultancy Group to implement the Shaker Academy training program. The two-month initiative successfully trained 50 students from universities across Egypt, focusing on cutting-edge technologies and advanced industry concepts.
This partnership highlights ABB’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of talent in Egypt, as well as its dedication to transferring global expertise.
This strategic cooperation with Shaker Academy comes within the framework of ABB’s serious efforts aimed at bringing together stakeholders in the industrial and educational sectors to bridge the gap between education and the labor market by empowering and training young minds and enhancing the skill set of the Egyptian workforce.
Commenting on this partnership, Eng. Sherif Ismail, Vice President- Commercial Director for ABB Egypt & Central Africa, , stated: “We are extremely excited about this fruitful collaboration with our esteemed partner, Shaker Consultancy Group. We seize this unique opportunity to bridge the educational and industrial gap, develop future leaders, and create a new generation of innovators in engineering and technology.”
“At ABB, we are committed to community development by contributing to the creation of leaders with outstanding character, in line with our focus on high value and innovation through successful partnerships like this one. This partnership serves as a model for other companies on how the industrial and educational sectors can collaborate to refine the skills of future innovators and promising leaders,” he added.
This initiative showcased ABB’s exceptional expertise in developing several specialized training courses that covered a wide range of engineering functions and practical applications. Topics included electrical infrastructure networks—where project life cycle and projects stakeholders (ex. Consultants, Manufacturers, Contractors and End-users) were discussed, along with the role of each party in the project. —ABB’s smart interactive tools, medium-voltage infrastructure networks, and solutions for smart cities, such as smart medium-voltage switchgears, current and voltage sensors, condition monitoring system in the MV switchgears, the IEC61850 communication protocol, and electric vehicle charging station infrastructure.
ABB also conducted an additional session on energy efficiency and life safety solutions in buildings, which included an overview of ABB KNX system for energy consumption control system of various electrical systems within buildings (lighting, air conditioning, curtains, etc.) and emergency lighting topic “central battery systems (CBS)”. The session provided smart tools for smart applications, including practical sessions covering smart low-voltage switchboard, low-voltage distribution panel solutions, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, and automatic transfer switch (ATS) systems.
Moreover, participants explored the components of the Low Voltage Motor Control Center (LV MCC) and ABB’s Building Management System (BMS).
By participating in these sessions, students were provided with an invaluable opportunity to dive into the practical aspects of important engineering concepts, thus gaining insights into the advanced technologies shaping the future of the industry.
This initiative, which ran from September to October, played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world industrial practices through dynamic workshops, personal mentoring, and hands-on projects offered by Shaker Academy. It enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of the innovative technologies provided by ABB, preparing them for successful career paths and equipping them with practical skills that will help them succeed in various fields.
While ABB continues its efforts to shaping a better future, this partnership with Shaker Consultancy Group serves as an inspiration for other companies to create opportunities for young innovators. By honing their skills and enhancing their potential, ABB is helping them chart successful career paths, setting a new standard for industrial-academic collaboration
